Stonehenge & Salisbury South Wiltshire Museum
Take a look at Stonehenge and then travel to the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum where a great deal of finds relating to the ancient landscape are displayed.
Salisbury Museum focuses more on some of the modern excavations with a great selection of pottery and tools as well as some of the most significant finds of the last 50 years, such as the "Amesbury Archer". This contrasts slightly with the Devizes Museum which focuses more on some of the glittering gold, amber and fancy adornment which was the focus of the antiquarian excavators of the Bronze Age barrows in their haphazard excavations of the 19th century as well as some more modern excavations from the 20th century.
The sites in the title of the tour are the places which we most try to get to on the day (subject to last minute closures or other unforseen circumstances). However, we do like to be flexible so feel free to discuss on the day if there are any additional sites you would like to see. Or if you would like to change the itinerary entirely (however you would have to purchase any tickets for sites which were not planned).
